He's making millions with an iPhone app no one uses anymore.

This 15-year-old makes $6 million a year with Snapchat Shows.

ā€œThere is no secret to going viral. You just have to see what works, and remove everything that doesnā€™t work.ā€

- Dan and Luc: Ages 15 and 17

Sup fam!

This oneā€™s for all you extra young entrepreneurs! This week we are going to take a look at Dan and Luc and their Snapchat Story business. Snapchat Stories is a feature on Snapchat that pays creators for every view they get, similar to YouTube shorts. They both have over 15 Snapchat accounts that create short-form content, and they never show their faces or create the content themselves.

And in 10 minutes or less, youā€™re going to learn:

āœ”ļøWhy you should NOT have a personal brand

āœ”ļøWhy you NEED to ā€œTrend Jackā€

QUICK SUMMARY
TLDR:

Dan and Luc were kids in high school when they first started their Snapchat Show company. At the time, Luc was making Fortnite videos on YouTube and Dan was his video editor. They had a friend who was making a bunch of money through Snapchat, so Luc asked for some help and tips to make his Snapchat show. But his friend said no.

Luc and Dan didnā€™t give up though because they knew how much money Snapchat Shows could make. So, one day they were on Discord with their friend who does Snapchat shows. The friend was showing his computer screen, and Luc saw that he had his email open. So Luc took a screenshot of his email contact list, and he saw the email of his friendā€™s Snapchat Show manager. So Luc emailed the manager asking for his help to create his own Snapchat Show. And the manager said yes! (What a disgusting finessešŸ˜‚)

Once Luc and Dan had their manager, they began to make content for Snapchat. They both had experience creating content on YouTube shorts, so they used that formula and incorporated it into Snapchat. They began uploading one video a day, and in just one month their company brought in $186,000 in ad revenue! They never showed their face on their channel, and hired editors and voice-over artists to scale their company to $600,000 a month!

Bro, these kids are inspiring AF.

They canā€™t even get a driverā€™s license, and they are KILLING the game.

There is also one thing I LOVE about their business.

Itā€™s that their business has NO personal branding at all.

1. Distance from your business.

Do you guys know Mr. Beast?

What am I saying, of course you do!

For those of you who live under a rock, Mr. Beast is a YouTuber.

And not just any YouTuber.

Heā€™s literally the Micheal Jordan of YouTube.

Well, without all the basketball skills and crying memes.

But Mr. Beast has made YouTube his whole life.

And he has made a SH!T ton of money from it.

He is estimated to make over $82 million a year from all of his YouTube channels combined!

Now that may sound amazing, but there is one problem with his business model.

He works over 100 hours a week on his YouTube Channels.

My boy Mr. Beast is overworked!

This is because his business is based around him and his personality.

So he has to be on camera all the time to make his videos and grow his business.

And that is not the life a business owner should live.

Making money is amazing, but trading 100 hours of your life every week just isnā€™t worth it.

Thatā€™s why you should build a business that can be outsourced.

This means your business can be run by someone else, while you sit back and collect your money.

And this is exactly how Dan and Luc made their Snapchat empire.

Dan and Luc were both 15 and 17 when they first met.

At the time, they were living the dream of every 14-year-old.

They were making Fortnite videos.

They created 15-minute Fortnite videos and produced YouTube shorts from them.

And even though they went viral, they werenā€™t making a lot of money.

So they thought of ways they could expand their business.

Then, Luc remembered that he had a friend who was making insane money, like over $30,000 a month!

So Luc asked him how he was bringing home the bacon.

His friend said that he was making money through something called Snapchat Shows.

Yes, you heard right.

Snapchat.

At the time, most people thought Snapchat was only for sneaky hookups.

However, Snapchat Shows is where the real money is at.

Snapchat Shows is similar to YouTube, where you get paid for every view you get.

But you have to apply to the program, and Dan and Luc had no idea how to get accepted.

So Luc asked his friend to help him start his own Snapchat business.

But his friend was NOT a homie, and he said no.

Honestly, that guy doesn't seem like a friendšŸ˜‚.

So Luc and Dan started brainstorming ideas on how to start their own Snapchat Shows business.

And that is when Dan and Luc did a little finessing.

So this is how Dan and Luc started their Snapchat Show business:

1. Luc was on a Discord call with his friend, and he noticed that he had his email account open. So Luc took a screenshot and found the email of his friendā€™s Snapchat Show manager.

2. Then, he emailed his manager and asked for his help to get into the Snapchat Show program. The manager referred him to the agency that sponsors potential Snapchat Show users.

3. Dan and Luc already had tons of content and video editing skills from creating Fortnite videos so they took all of their YouTube shorts and brought them over to Snapchat Shows. Click here to see an example of their work.

The three keys to Dan and Lucā€™s business being successful were:

1. They started a business using skills they already had.

2. They took advantage of an underused platform, which was Snapchat.

3. They didnā€™t add a personal brand to their business, which made it easier to outsource their work.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Takeaway and Tips:

When choosing which business to start, make sure to start a business that comes easily to you. If you already have certain skills, choose a business that will let you use those skills, instead of having to learn something new. Dan was Lucā€™s video editor for his YouTube channel, so they didnā€™t need to hire an editor for their Snapchat business. They also had a bunch of YouTube shorts that went viral, so it was easy to transition to Snapchat.

In business, itā€™s always best to find a market with a small level of competition, because it will be easier to dominate them. Everybody wants to start YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram, but almost no one is talking about how much Snapchat pays its creators. And since Dan and Luc saw people making over $1,000,000 a month through Snapchat, they knew there was potential.

When building a business, try to separate yourself from your business and brand. This is because when you start a personal brand, you will always have to be present in your business to see results. You will not be able to exponentially increase your business growth if you have to be involved with your business. This is how Dan and Luc were able to scale to over $600,000 a month from their Snapchat Shows. They did all of the work themselves at first, but once it became too much they hired a team of 20 people to do the work for them.

2. Always use someone elseā€™s clout.

When building a business, marketing is everything.

It doesnā€™t matter if youā€™re selling the cure to cancer, if nobody knows you have it then nobody is going to buy it.

And there is one way to have effective marketing.

You have to understand your customer COMPLETELY.

Understand their interests, their wants, and their needs.

That is exactly how my dawgs Spongebob and Patrick sold all that sweet, sweet chocolate.

Dan and Luc truly understood their customer when building their Snapchat Show company.

Thatā€™s why they used a method called ā€œTrend Hacking.ā€

Now, this may sound like some super sophisticated computer stuff.

But itā€™s simple.

All they did was analyze the videos and news that was viral on other social media platforms and put them on Snapchat.

Thatā€™s literally it.

They went to places like Twitter, Instagram, and Linkedin to find the best news, and put it into a Snapchat video.

And this method worked like a charm.

This method was genius for their brand because:

1. They would never run out of content, because their content would be based on news from other sources.

2. Their channels would always stay relevant because they would constantly catch trends, which would keep their content up-to-date.

Doing ā€œTrend Hackingā€ also allowed them to diversify their content, so that they can create multiple Snapchat Shows.

They created Snapchat shows on topics like Basketball, Celebrity Gossip, Content Creation News, Politics, and so many more.

Their content became more spread out than a yoga instructor.

With their skill of Trend Hacking, they were able to clear over $600,000 in their second month on Snapchat!

MARKETING
Takeaway and Tips:

When marketing your business, finding trends is a great way to make sure there is interest in your content. Donā€™t guess what people are interested in, find the interest first and create content around it. You can do this by looking at your competitors on different platforms, and figuring out why their content became successful. Donā€™t reinvent the wheel, look at what is trending and working currently.

If you are creating content to market your business, understand the algorithm that you are using. YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat all have different algorithms that push out their content differently, so understand the correct content strategy for each platform.

PRACTICAL SECTION
How to start a business just like this one

1. First you need to find someone to help you apply for a Snapchat Show. You can do this by emailing large companies that already have Snapchat Shows and seeing if they have an agency that can help you get approved. Or, you can apply directly on Snapchatā€™s website.

2. Next you need to create the content for your Snapchat Show. You can create it yourself, or you can go to websites like Fiverr and Upwork that have freelancers who can create the content for your Snapchat Show.
